There is so much available online these days, yet even more that remains hidden closets, archives, museums. The list goes on and on. Your contribution will allow me to travel to archives, to make purchases from the National Archives, and to meet with descendants of ancestors so that I can acquire original sources of the early history of Boulder County. From the bottom of my heart, thank you for assisting me in this work.
Here is an example of a document I paid $40 to acquire from the National Archives. Sylvanus Budd made his homestead declaration while serving as a Union soldier in the Civil War. Interesting that he made his declaration so far away from the homestead, which is located north west of Niwot, Colorado.
